It might seem odd to intentionally create so much 'negative space', but I'm so into this at the moment! Granted, it definitely works better in my design work when I add text to fill in the blank space, but today I thought I would try it for Jack's portrait. I also rolled out my black and white backdrops together to create the two tone effect.
Jack is sporting his brand new sunglasses from Marks and Spencers. Isn't he a cool dude? He picked them out himself. He's also wearing an American Apparel cardi, Zara skinny rocker jeans and a vintage tee.
Jack was featured in the May edition of the American Apparel email newsletter wearing this cardigan. You can see it here: http://tiny.cc/0h92ew

He is so handsome! Totally rockin' those shades :)

ReplyDeleteLove it! My little guy will not leave on the shades. But he did let us do a mohawk one time... paired it with a little motorcycle style jacket, skinny black jeans and red hightop sneakers. Loved how they turned out. Found you on the weekend blog hop until you drop!

I'm a big fan of negative space. To me, it makes the picture way more interesting. I love his shades; he's too cool for school :o)
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining in again at Photo Feedback! :) I love seeing you here each week.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it is odd to create negative space at all. I love it! First I have to say that Jack's outfit is adorable and the converse shoes really top it off. So stinking cute!
I like the negative space you created a lot. I also like how you kept the space interesting my breaking it up in two colors. Very nicely done. My only suggestion for the first shot would be to put him on the right side of the image. His body language is kind of making your eye stop at him. If he was on that side the image would continue to flow that direction. People tend to view photos from left to right (just like they read), so with his body language stopping I think it would really create a better image. The second photo is exactly what I am talking about. I think it creates a great balance. Keep up the great work!
I absolutely LOVE negative space. I love to go even more extreme than this! (I also really love his shades...haha. So darn cute)
ReplyDeleteLove the two toned backdrops. It makes the red in the glasses stand out so much. I am stopping by from the Mom's Monday Mingle and am joining as a new follower. Have a great week!
