Forget Falcon... Here's the real balloon boy! Actually- no. This is a hoax too. The balloon does exist; Jack was given it at a restaurant last night. But as hard as I tried, I couldn't get him to stand still and hold it for a photo. So, I photographed it separately against the grey and added it and the shadow into a photo with Jack. Hey presto. Also, the balloon was green, but that didn't match his 70's blue vintage jumper and dungarees, so I faked that too, and changed it to blue.
I totally live to capture the key moment, with real expressions, poses, shadows and colours. That's part of the challenge, and the fun. But sometimes with a 16 month old, that's just not possible. So perhaps you'll forgive me just this once.

if you hadnt told me that the picture was a fake i would have never guessed it great editing!!! and great shots jack looks sooo sweet in those clothes x

ReplyDeleteWOW. A-mazing work, looks fabulous! He is going to be such a little heart breaker!
ReplyDeleteI never would have guessed!
ReplyDeleteGreat edit! You can't even tell. The reflection in the balloon is really cool..
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Nobody would know if you hadn't let us in on the edit. Thanks for linking up this week :)
ReplyDeleteWith a 16 month old you totally have to just go with what you can and work with it. I think you did a great job of that. I love that you added shadow to it to make it very realistic. This photo is very lovely and I am going to stretch here for feedback. The balloon and his outfit are very sharp, but his face/head are not as much. I know it is hard with a toddler (trust me, I know).
ReplyDeleteGreat pic! My little one is going around your blog right now pointing to all of the things she knows. Stars, moon, balloon, etc. It's too funny!
ReplyDeleteGreat editing! Such a sweet image of Jack. :-)
ReplyDeleteHow cute. Thanks for sharing this with us at The Sunday Round Up.

ReplyDeletewow! That's some impressive editing. You totally fooled me! What program do you use?
ReplyDeleteHi Lauren- thank you. I use photoshop CS3.
DeleteThis is a simply wonderful image...I also like how the background of your blog 'fits' the shot as well. If you'd not said anything about the 'after edit' I would have had absolutely no idea the balloon was added in later.
ReplyDeleteNicly done.
:D You are forgiven because the result is great :) Have a nice day !
