I had an old wallpaper sample lying around, just enough to place two pieces side by side. I thought it might produce an interesting effect when placed behind Jack for a quick portrait. It seems to be popular now for backdrop suppliers print a flocked wallpaper effect on full size backdrops. If you're using it everyday, I would imagine it could be worth the money, but obviously I wouldn't, so this is my one-off cheap alternative.
I didn't spend too much time on the shoot itself, but I did spend quite a bit of time in photoshop afterwards attempting to give a 'film still' feel to the photo.
I am quite pleased with the outcome. I like his quiet contemplation. Jack is a very thoughtful boy indeed.

Love "thinking outside of the box" ideas. And a great way to use some old scraps of wallpaper. Love his eyes and expression in the first photo. Cute!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! Love the black against the blue of his eyes. Thanks for linking up.

ReplyDeleteNifty pic, great idea! Thanks for sharing. Always looking for background ideas. Happy WW!
ReplyDeleteGreat background idea. You captured a really nice moment.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining in Photo Feedback. I love the wallpaper. It looks just like a studio.
ReplyDeleteI am trying to come up with some feedback for this and it is tough. The only thing I can think of would be to lighten up the vignette just a tad at the bottom, but I know you were going for a film look. It is just a teeny string for my taste. But photography is so subjective.
Such a lovely shot!!
Great idea! Love the background, but seriously, that little face is precious.
ReplyDeleteI love the expression and the wisps of hair.
ReplyDeleteCool idea. I like the expression on his face. How does it look in B&W? On the portrait, a little back light would help set off the hair from the print behind him. And if you are being super-picky, I'd suggest a plain black shirt against the busy background. I love the overall color - warm, yet those steely blue eyes are great. Precious!
ReplyDeleteHi from Photo Feedback! I agree with Julie's suggestions. If you had some light coming from the back to his lovely curly blond hair, it would me a magical final touch to this super-cute portrait!!
ReplyDeleteLove the wallpaper, and the boy has such pretty eyes :-)
What a cute expression, and what an awesome idea!
ReplyDeleteHere from Photo Feedback.
ReplyDeleteI love the background and clever use of it. He's definitely a cutie and what a great expression.
The only thing I'm seeing that I might change is a bit of the redness in his lower face. Maybe this is because of the vignette emphasizing it? or maybe just needs some skin-tone alterations in post processing. My kids got red faces often at that age because of their fair skin, so if you prefer to keep the memory real, I'd completely understand and love the photo all the more for it.
Great work capturing a sweet boy.
Great idea! Love it! Thanks so much for stopping by and linking up. Jack is adorable! :)
